"I thought I knew you, but I guess it's easier to see what we want than to look for the truth. You think you know me, but you don't. And that means that you don't know what I can do. You see me as someone who's popular... and has all the answers. That's not true. I may not always know what I'm doing... but I'll try to make things better. And when I make a mistake, because face it, we all do, I promise I'll ask for your help. I can't do this alone... but if you'll take a chance on me we can do great things together. I promise if you believe in me I'll find the courage to reach for your every dream. John F. Kennedy said "the courage of life is a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy. A man does what he must in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures." And that is the basis of all morality."  ~Brooke Davis  S2/E13
"Someone once said; it’s the good girls who keep diaries. The bad girls never have the time.  Me… I just wanna live a life I’m gonna remember.  Even if I don’t write it down."  ~Brooke Davis  S2/E8
"Why does everybody lie?  You know, the bad guys lie to get in your bed… and the good guys… lie to get in your heart."  ~Brooke Davis  S2/E9
Nathan takes off his backpack, sits down and opens up a cracker jack box, taking out a small package.

"Ugh, please let this be a cheat sheet."

Nathan takes a tacky bracelet out of the package.

  "It’s for you."

Haley:  "Stop it."

Nathan:  "Come on."

Haley:  [Sigh]

Nathan puts the bracelet on her.

"Don’t say I never gave you anything."

Haley:  "Do you see this book?  Because this book is me.  I am math."

Nathan:  "What’s that supposed to mean?"

Haley:  "It’s supposed to mean that you can work your whole "I’m Nathan Scott, Mr. Big shot, scoring my touchdowns" on somebody else, because I don’t...

Nathan:  " I don’t even play football."

Haley:  "Whatever. Look, the point is at the end of the day, all your bluster and BS don’t mean anything to math because math don’t care, and neither do I."

Nathan:  "Well, does English care? ‘Cause I really suck at that, too."  ~S1/E3
"This is who I am. This is how I am. And 95% of the time there isn’t a moral, or a victory, or a silver lining... Take it or leave it."  ~Peyton Sawyer  S1/E3
"E.E. Cummings once wrote, "To be nobody but yourself, in a world which is doing its best, day and night, to make you everybody else… means to fight the hardest battle, which any human being can fight… and never stop fighting."  ~Lucas Scott  S1/E2
"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists... It is real... It is possible... It is yours." ~Lucas Scott S1/E2

"I’m all over the place. I don’t know, it’s just like… you know that feeling you get on a Sunday where you just had the whole day to yourself and it’s been great, and then you remember you have to go to school the next day, so it ruins the rest of the night?  I have to go home tomorrow and so I’ve got that feeling... It’s like Sunday night."  ~Peyton Sawyer  S3/E20
"Does this darkness have a name?  This cruelty, this hatred. How did it find us?  Did it steal into our lives or did we seek it out and embrace it? What happened to us?  That we now send our children out into the world like we send young men to war, hoping for their safe return... but knowing that some will be lost along the way. When did we lose our way?  Consumed by the shadows, swallowed whole by the darkness. Does this darkness have a name?  Is it your name?"  ~Lucas Scott  S3/E16
"Look, I worked hard. And my dream started to come true again, and I started to believe that people just go through things... challenges that make them stronger. And then, you are gone. All right? I showed up at the River Court, and you never came. And that was it, just like that. And I realized that... we're not invincible... Dreams die."  ~Nathan Scott  S6/E10
"On stage, in front of three thousand people; I lost it. I couldn’t sing, I couldn’t hear the music. Nothing.  Because… that was the moment that I knew… that none of it could ever be enough without you.
All of the celebrity and all of the applause and all the pretty melodies… couldn’t fill your void in my heart.
So… yeah, I guess you’re right; it’s not the life I would’ve had… cause ever since I met you, it has been so much more."  ~Haley James Scott  S3/E7
"Okay, guy in need of a clue. Here’s one... Women send signals. That was a brush off. Before you dip into your shallow pool of wit let me paint us a picture and save us both the trouble. Here’s your evening... You are going to slink back off to your buddies, laugh this off, get wasted, go home, and make nice with yourself. But don’t be thinking of me, because even your fantasy of me, isn’t interested in you."  ~Brooke Davis  S1/E20
Chase:  "Today I spent an hour with Brooke Davis, and I learned something. People are gonna label you... But it's how you overcome those labels, That's what matters."

Brooke:  "I spent an hour with Chase Adams. He's a Clean Teen, and that's pretty cool!"

Peyton:  "People think they know Nathan Scott. I know I did. But, I discovered something new today. Nathan Scott is a martyr. He's also gonna be a terrific father."

Nathan:  "I spent the class with Peyton Sawyer. It reminded me what a good friend she is. I also learned that considering recent history, she's not quite ready for the whole picture thing."

Mouth:  "Some of you have met Shelly Simon, Clean Teen, but today, I got to know Shelly Simon, teen. I also asked her to prom."

Shelly:  "An hour ago I called Marvin Mc Fadden nice. He is. But I should have called him dangerous. I also said yes to prom."

Rachel:  "This is one of the best classes I've ever had. A kick-ass fifty minutes during which Bevin told me she always wanted to be a guy."

Bevin:  "I spent the hour with Rachel, and I think she learned today that I am not an idiot. This is my picture of her."

Skills:  "Over the years I've known Haley James bookworm, Haley James sarcastic girl, Haley James Scott rock star and Haley James Scott mother to be. Today I got reaquainted with just Haley, my girl friend. She get heavier too!"

Haley:  "Skills has been my friend since really young, and today I remembered why, he's a great listener, he's gonna do awesome in college, and he deserves to be on top of the world."

Glenda:  "Fifty minutes ago, I called Lucas Scott a jock. But I was wrong... he's more than one simple word, I guess we all are. Anyway I learned that Lucas is actually a lot like me. Who knew?"

Lucas:  "I wish I would have hung out with Glenda before today. Something tells me she could have been a great friend. But it's good to know there's still a little time left to do that. - Glenda! Listen would you mind taking a look at this for me? I need someone I can trust to tell me the truth."

Glenda:  "Sure, ok, Lucas Scott."

Lucas:  "Hey, today was awesome, I had a blass with you. See you tomorrow. - And I also learned her last name. - Hey, Mrs. Farell."

Glenda:  "Ok, mum, let's go."

Lucas:  "And I learned that one hour can change everything."  ~S4/E13

"It's been said that the saddest thing a man will ever face is what might have been. But what of the man who's faced with what was? Or what may never be? Or what can no longer be? Choosing the right path is never easy. It's a decision we make with only our hearts to guide us. But sometimes we find our way to something better. Sometimes we fight through the regret and remorse of our mistakes... our malice and our jealousy and the shame we feel for not being the people we were meant to be. And that's when we find our way to something better... or when something better finds its way to us."  ~Dan Scott  S5/E14
"The thing is there is never a time when you will be more honest, and your convictions will be stronger, and your motives will be more pure than they are right now. Which means you should chase whatever excites you... Be confident, and take risks, and paint over my words so you can start writing your own. My story may have inspired you, but I'm certain your story will inspire the next girl to live in our room...

I want you to know you don't need somebody to write about you in order for your life to mean something. You can write about yourself… make your own destiny. Then years from now the next girl will keep what you write on that door long enough to remind you how inspired your life is. And you can tell that girl to paint over the door because you realize the words you wrote, the friends you had, the urgency you felt will always be there under the paint. The love you professed will always be there... the spark of something undeniable, a seed of hope, the truth for better or for worse burning fiercely just below the surface."  ~Peyton Sawyer  S5/E8
Lucas:  "Lindsey, it's just a story. I mean, so what? Peyton's car is just a comet, you know? But this is crazy. I love you."
Lindsey:  "I love you, too, Lucas. I do, and I always will. But your heart is conflicted, and I think I've always known it. I guess I was hoping that someday... I could be your comet. It's an epic love story, Luke. It's just not ours. And neither is this."
(She put her engagement ring with the manuscript, on the bed and goes to the door)
"Lindsey, please. You can't just leave."
Lindsey:  "People always leave, Luke. You know that.   (She looks at him and leaves)   ~S5/E12
Lindsey: (reading from Lucas' second book)   "It was more than just a comet because of what it brought to his life... direction, beauty, meaning. There were many who couldn't understand, and sometimes he walked among them. But even in his darkest hours, he knew in his heart that someday, it would return to him, and his world would be whole again, and his belief in god and love and art would be reawakened in his heart."  ~S5/E12
"Did you ever wonder what it would be like if you weren't you anymore? If you were suddenly gone, how would your world react? Whatever you imagined is wrong. There's nothing romantic about death. Grief is like the Ocean. It's deep and Dark and bigger than all of us. And pain is like a thief in the night. Quiet... Persistent... Unfair... Diminished by time and faith and love. I didn’t know Quentin Fields but I’m jealous of him because I see how his absence has affected the people that did know him so I know that he did matter to them. And I know he was loved. People say Quentin Fields was a great basketball player. Graceful... Fluid... Inspiring... They say on a good night it almost seemed as though he could fly. And now he can."  ~Sam  S6/E3
"Come here, I want to talk to you a minute. I know you’re searching for things, Lucas. And I hope with all my heart that you find the answers to your questions. But the answers that you’re looking for are closer than you think. They’re in your heart. And in the hearts of those who love you. And that is right here. At home. In your life you’re going to go to some great places, and you’re going to do some wonderful things. But no matter where you go, or who you become, this place will always be with you. There is only one Tree Hill... and it's your home. I love you, my boy."  ~Karen Roe  S1/E22
"Regret comes in all shapes and sizes. Some are small... like when we do a bad thing for a good reason. Some are bigger... like when we let down a friend. Some of us escape the pangs of regret by making the right choice. Some of us have little time for regret because we're looking forward to the future. Sometimes we have to fight to come to terms with the past. And sometimes we bury our regret by promising to change our ways. But our biggest regrets are not for the things we did... but for the things we didn't do. Things we didn't say... that could have saved someone we care about... especially when we can see the dark storm that's headed their way."  ~Lucas Scott  S4/E7

“Nathan, it’s been said that there’s one word that will free us from the weight and the pain of life, and that world is love. And I believe that. That doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been hard, or that it won’t be, it just means that I’ve found a stillness and bravery in my self, with you. You make me brave. And I will love you until the end of time. This I vow today.” ~Haley James Scott

“Last year we stood on a beach, and I told you how much I loved you and how I would always, always protect you. That day, nobody believe that this would work. But I don’t think anybody understand the love that I had for you, because if they did, they would have never doubted us. So, I wanted to marry you all over again, in front of most of our world, because today, when I look into your eyes, my love for you only grows. It’s even stronger now. And our love will never waver. This I vow to you, today and always, and forever.” ~Nathan Scott   S3/E22

"The last time I gave a speech about Nathan and Haley was, well, at their first reception. And I remember saying, “Prepare to be surprised.” Well, I have to say, even I was surprised. Because, you see, they do something that’s very rare to see in someone our age. Actually, it’s very rare to see in anybody. They give their hearts to each other, unconditionally. And that’s what true love really is. It’s not this fairy-tale life that never knows pain, but it’s two souls facing it together, and diminishing it with unconditional love. To Nathan and Haley Scott."  ~Lucas Scott

"I’m not the most eloquent speaker, so I thought I would borrow a few words from Shakespeare. “Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds.” When life gets hard, when things change, true love remains the same. I look at Nathan and Haley and somehow I feel safer. I don’t know if I can explain that, but they give me hope. And I’m afraid to say it out loud, because maybe if life finds out, it’ll try to beat it out of them. And that would be a shame, because we all can use a little hope sometimes, you know? That feeling that everything is gonna be okay, and that there’s gonna be someone there to help make sure of that. So here’s to Nathan and Haley. Here’s to hope. And here’s to a love that will not alter."  ~Brooke Davis  S3/E22

"Sometimes I feel incredibly disconnected, really uncomfortable in my own skin. Kind of, like I don't fit in to this world. Like I was born at the wrong time, and I don't belong. I just think about my son, and it scares me because I don't ever want him to feel like he doesn't belong. I don't know if my heart could bear that."  ~Haley James Scott   S4/E13
"I could have held you in my arms forever... and it still wouldn't have been long enough."  ~Jake Jaglieski    S2/E22
Brooke:  "So, you think it's okay to be a little miserable every now and then... Even when you have great things in your life?"

Julian:  "Is it okay to be a little hungry now and then?"

Brooke:  "Happiness is a mood, not a destination. I like that."

Julian:  "Well, for whatever it's worth, you make me incredibly happy, Brooke Davis. But we all struggle sometimes."   ~S8/E8
"Well, we're always thinking that someday we'll be happy. You know, we'll get that car or that job or that person in our lives that'll fix everything. But happiness is a mood, and it's a condition, not a destination. It's like being tired or hungry. It's not permanent. It comes and goes, and that's okay. And I feel like if people thought of it that way, they'd find happiness a lot more often."  ~Julian Baker  S8/E8
"Once upon a time there was a Princess who lived in a kingdom far, far away; and in that kingdom there also lived a boy and the Princess loved that boy and, so the two decided to marry."

"Now in this kingdom all was not well..."

"So the princess and the boy were set to be wed and because she was a Princess, a call went out for a beautiful dress."

"Now as the wedding day approached, the Princess worried about the evil King. Because, although he had not always been this way his heart had grown dark and his kingdom had grown to fear and despise him."

"In the days before the wedding the king surprised the Princess and gave his blessing to the marriage. But, the Princess was still torn for even though she had found her true love it meant she would have to faithful handmaiden behind forever."

"On the eve of the Princess's wedding a lavish feast was arranged. Friends and royalty were summoned from lands far away to join the happy couple for a night of laughter and magic."

"As the night wore on a calm fell upon the land and all was right in the land, if only for a moment."

"But the people had their struggles as all people do and they had grown to fear and despise the King, whose heart had grown dark."

"But in the end the love between the Princess and the boy was undeniable and true. And, over time that love would see them through anything. Magical things happened to them, things they couldn’t explain, much like love its self. And, like most fairy tales the Princess and the boy lived happily ever after... at least I hope they do."  ~Jake Jagielski   S3/E21
"We all make different choices, on different things. I think eventually we learn to define happiness for ourselves on our own terms, in spite of the pain other people have caused us."  ~Haley James Scott  S6/E10
"Remember when I told you what girls want?  Girls just want somebody to want them back... At least I do."  ~Brooke Davis  S1/E18
"Here’s my philosophy on dating. It’s important to have somebody that can make you laugh. Somebody you can trust. Somebody that, you know, turns you on. And it’s really, really important that these three people don’t know each other."  ~Brooke Davis  S1/E18
"Everyday you wait... is another day you’ll never get back again."  ~Whitey Durham  S1/E18
“You’re not a mess... You’re just in love.” ~Lucas Scott S1/E18
"I enjoy corrupting America’s youth. It’s kind of one of my hobbies."  ~Brooke Davis  S1/E18
"I know one thing, and that's... if you don't ask for something, you can't just expect for it to happen."  ~Peyton Sawyer  S5/E15
Rachel:  "That’s the scary truth, Mouth... We’re all alone."
Mouth:  "Not if we have friends."  ~S3/E15
"Everybody can’t be popular, because if they were, nobody would be popular."  ~Rachel Gatina  S3/E15
"Sometimes pain becomes such a huge part of your life that you expect it to always be there because you can’t remember a time in your life when it wasn’t. But then, one day, you feel something else, something that feels wrong, but only because it’s so unfamiliar, and, in that moment, you realize you’re happy."  ~Lucas Scott  S4/E12
"It's been fifty years, fifty long years since I've done this. Looking back on what I said all those years ago, all the hopes and dreams I had, I've come to the conclusion that if having things turn out the way you wanted them to is the measure of a successful life, then some would say that I'm a failure. The important thing is not to be bitter over life's disappointments. Learn to let go of the past. And recognize that every day won't be sunny, and when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair remember it's only in the black of night you see the stars. And those stars will lead you back home. So don't be afraid to make mistakes, or stumble and fall, cause most of the time the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. Maybe you'll get everything you wish for. Maybe you'll get more than you ever could have imagined. Who knows where life will take you. The road is long and in the end, the journey is the destination."  ~Whitey Durham  S3/E15
